Reflection

Making a game is no easy feat.

Proper planning and management is super-duper important, we were very lost t at the start of the semester. Still abit blur right now, but we now have a much clearer direction and a solid grasp of our project goals.

Things I have learned throughout this semester

  • I learned how to draw and create 47 auto tiling tile sets that help us to quickly build level terrains
  • Making pixel art for game is not as easy as it looks, for starters, sprite and canva size, very important
  • Pixel art cannot be scale up/ down directly in the game engine, or it will look very weird
  • Tried my hand in animating pixel art, nope, looks terrible, i'll pass it on to my teammates.

  • Tried Godot for the first time when modify the game file, quite easy to understand the nodes and 2d terrain building.

AI assisted us in many ways, although we did use ai to generate some reference art, we hand drawn all the assets ourselves.

Mr. Ron gave many helpful insights to us when we were stuck on redesigning the story and mechanics for the game.

Our
major project 1 final output was okay, we definitely needed more time to focus on this project, but had other subjects to take care also, i think it was pretty good for a couple of first time game creators.

Happy and grateful to work in a great team, everyone is responsive and give feedbacks.

There is still much work to be done till the end of major project 2, lets keep it up!
