Reflections

Experience :

Writing the dissertation was definitely challenging and took a lot more effort than I expected. Academic writing isn’t something I naturally enjoy, so staying focused and organised was tough at times. However, I really enjoyed Task 3, especially the visual design part. Customising and designing the layout of my dissertation was fun and made the whole project feel more personal. I also found some of the research papers I read for my literature review quite interesting and insightful. Finishing all my tasks on time was a big relief and felt very rewarding.

Observations :

While working on my survey, I realised that some of the questions I created could have been worded more clearly. A few terms felt slightly vague, which may have caused confusion for participants. This made me more aware of how important clear and precise wording is when designing survey questions. I also noticed that using graphs and tables in my dissertation made the content much easier to read and understand. Visualising data helped break up long sections of text and allowed key findings to be communicated more effectively.

Findings :

Through this project, I discovered that I don’t really enjoy writing research papers, especially compared to visual and design-focused work. I also realised that I rushed a lot of my work near the deadline, which made the process more stressful than it needed to be. This experience showed me that I need to manage my time better and start tasks earlier. At the same time, it helped me understand my strengths better and confirmed that I enjoy the creative and visual side of design the most.
