Lecture 1: INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY & IMAGING 

Photoshop has become a center of creativity for all domains where it is graphic designing, web designing, animation, photography or digital magazine designing. It’s being considered as one of the widely used photo editing software.

The importance of Photoshop for Graphic Designers:

1. To express your creativity

2. To create graphic design

3. To assist in restoration of old images

4. To integrate graphics with text artistically

5. Provide quality of life tools such as brushes 

6. To change photo colors 

7. To rectify mistakes in photographs

Before photoshop, there was photograph manipulation 

Australian photographer Frank Hurley formed this composite photograph from three original negatives of World War I Belgium.

Then came digital imaging. What is digital imaging?

Digital imaging converts the printed text, artwork, and photographs into digital images using a digital scanner or another imaging device.

Design #1: 1708 Cake Infographic Poster (by Sung Hwan Jang)

Description: 

The simple art style attracted my eye. The colour composition used in this poster mainly consists of warm colours and uses blue mostly on the center cake to draw attention to it.  Plus, the colour tone applied on the background uses a light red, not taking the attention away from the subject and being easy on my eyes.

Description:

I like the randomness of the drawing, it uses simple drawing and wildly different concepts and mashes it together, nicely expresses the message it is trying to convey, ‘stay weird’.

Description:

When I first saw this poster, the illustration piqued my interest. It expressed the gentle start of rain with soft line art. I also like the background colour.
